Carlos’ dream is alive
CARLOS QUEIROZ believes Iran can still pull off a World Cup miracle and send his home country packing.
A shock win against Portugal tonight will take Queiroz’s men through at the expense of the European champions.
Queiroz said: “We have only one alternative – to be better than Portugal in every aspect.
“We didn’t come here to be nice losers, we have come here to work with dignity and pride for Iran supporters. We are going to fight for 90 minutes tomorrow.”
The former Portugal boss refused to discuss how he plans to stop their four-goal superstar Ronaldo but is wary of the threat of Fernando Santos’ men.
“We fight for our dream, we have nothing to lose,” he added. “They have everything to lose.
“I think it will be difficult, because Fernando comes with very strong animals and they can bite quite hard.”
Portugal defender Pepe said: “We’re warriors and we’re going to play with solidarity.”
