Muscle pills alert

-

TEENAGE lads are using steroids to get the perfect Love Island body.

Schoolboys are being lured into taking substances in gyms.

Professor Susan Backhouse, of Leeds Beckett’s Carnegie School of Sport, said: “Programmes like Love Island may play a role in driving drug use as they shape our perception of the ‘ideal’ body.

“If they see these incredibly honed, muscular physiques on their TV screens as being normal, then drugs like steroids are a shortcut to achieving that.”

Some 9% of 771 boys quizzed have revealed they have taken anabolic steroids in the past three months.

But warnings have gone out that steroids cause blood pressure, heart problems and mood swings.
