Attraction is overpriced
CORRIE fans have slammed the show’s set tours, claiming they are too expensive.
Bosses are raking in more than £50,000 a weekend by opening the soap’s doors to the public when shooting stops.
Around 29 groups of 50 people are taken around the cobbles to see famous telly sites such as the Rovers Return, spending £35 a time for the privilege.
But the guides, armed with years of trivia, are paid just £7.93 an hour to escort them around the £10million set in Salford. One fan wrote on TripAdvisor: “The tour is advertised on the website as lasting for
80 minutes so we were pretty unimpressed to be done in 45 minutes.
“The tour guide was knowledgeable and it was nice to walk down Coronation Street but at £35 a head it was simply not worth the money.
“I complained when I got back from the tour and I’m told someone will be in touch but the manager that I spoke with couldn’t have appeared less interested, he just wanted us to move off as soon as possible.”
Another wrote: “Feels like they have taken the opportunity to make a quick buck!
“The tour guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable but had difficulty motivating the very flat tour crowd.
“Also we were rushed around, tours leave every
10 mins. No photos either on the inside sets or dressing rooms BUT of course they will sell you a picture in the Rovers!”
A spokesman for Continuum Attractions said: “The tours are marketed in a fair and reflective manner of the true experience and are competitively priced.”
