Salmon invasion warning

THE first non-native pink salmon of the year have been reported in the River Tyne. The North American species is believed to be invading the UK after they escaped from fish farms in Russia.

Scientists also claim to have underwater footage of the fish attempting to spawn after running up the River Ness in Scotland.

The Environmen­t Agency is urging anglers to report any unusual catches and to kill any pink salmon that they land. A TEACHER from Cornwall is set to become the first transgende­r woman to fish for England.
