MARRY YOU? I SHORE WILL!

Beach proposal written in sand

- by JACK BELLAMY news@dailystar.co.uk

A MAN proposed to his girlfriend with a hand-crafted 130ft message on a beach. Neil Brierley hired a sand artist to write the question “Aye Aye Emma, will you marry me?”

The 46-year-old took Emma Cornick, 40, for a stroll along the shore before telling her to turn around and getting down on one knee. His gesture at Tenby beach, Pembrokeshire, worked as teacher Emma said “yes”.

The couple, who hooked up on match.com last July, are now preparing for their big day next year.

Neil, of Cardiff, said: “I wanted to do something a bit different.

“I knew a couple of months ago Emma was the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

“I Googled sand artists and really liked the look of Marc Treanor.”

Romantic Neil added: “I wanted to make it personal so I decided to incorporate

‘Aye Aye’ into the design as it is a figure of speech she always says.”

It took Marc three hours to complete his work.

Neil said: “He started etching it at 5.30am.

“He sent me a text saying it was finished and I told Emma I fancied a morning walk. I knew where the perfect place to stand was. I was just very wary about not making her see it.

“Once I reached the spot I said to Emma, ‘Oh look what’s that over there?’

“It just could not have gone any better.”
