AN EARLY XMAS ON THE CARDS

- By RUTH McKEE ruth.mckee@dailystar.co.uk

THE festive season has come extra early this year as shops flog Christmas cards already.

Card Factory has launched its festive range – while schoolkids are still on their summer holidays.

One city centre branch is selling boxes of yuletide cards and festive gift bags.

But the early festive cheer sparked fury SEASON’S BLEATINGS: Cards caused fury on social media. People went on Facebook to storm at the stock, which is being displayed in Newcastle.

One angry user wrote: “What the hell is wrong with this country .... it’s SUMMER!”

And another added: “Far too early. Kids aren’t even back at school from summer holidays yet. Ridiculous.

“No wonder kids get confused thinking Santa is coming soon.”

But a Twitter user who claimed to be a worker from the chain hit back at the Scrooge-like responses. They explained that the festive roll-out happens at the same time every year.

One branch manager of the Newcastle store replied: “OMG get over it. I’m a card factory manager its the same weekend every year.

“The larger displays are delayed this year until November. People who live abroad have been asking for weeks.”

One happy shopper posted: “What’s the problem? You are all talking as if you hate Christmas. It’s a few cards in a card shop!”
