WIRED has been excited about Grace’s incredible tone for more than a year now, but she’s been biding her time.
She said: “I just wanted to get the music right and have the opportunity to make my statement before talking about it.”
She joined a choir after moving from London to Brighton as a child, but it was her stepdad who helped her find her voice.
“I’d only lived with my mum so I had some weird feeling towards him.
“He saw that and wanted me to feel comfortable so he bought me a guitar and said: ‘I know you don’t like me and have so much you need to talk about so here’s a vehicle to release that frustration’.”
New single Why Her Not Me is soulful in every way possible and it’s not the usual break-up song.
“I wrote it about my dad and the fact that he didn’t bring me up and chose somebody else over me.
“But I never want to take away what it could mean to other people because when I was listening to Adele
as a 12-year-old it felt like she was singing my life.
“But she was actually singing about a guy.”
Grace has been honing her skills supporting the likes of Rag ’N’ Bone Man, HAIM and Dua Lipa.
“I learned so much from Dua – the way she carries herself,” she gushes.
“I might chill on my days off, but Dua would always be off working on something and never complained. “That’s what I learned from her.
“You are so blessed to be in this position so take advantage of it.”

The girls are expected to unveil the collab next week and promise something new.
