SLOSH & BECKS!

They splash out on £1,300 wine after speed rap let-off

DAVID Beckham celebrated his escape from a speeding rap with an expensive blowout in Paris.

The 43-year-old had a “date night” with wife Victoria, 44, who posted pics of their lavish meal on social media.

The couple drank a bottle of French wine which costs around £1,300.

And they showed fans pictures of a snail starter and a mouth-watering steak.

Victoria captioned her Instagram post: “Date night last night in Paris.”

The couple later hopped on a private jet with A-list pals Eva Longoria and her husband Jose Antonio Baston.

The former England skipper had admitted driving at almost 60mph in a 40mph zone. But he dodged a penalty because legal papers arrived a day late. Even Beckham’s own lawyer has admitted that the football legend should have been convicted of speeding “from a moral standpoint”.

Nick Freeman, nicknamed “Mr Loophole”, said: “It was made quite clear from the very start that Mr Beckham didn’t dispute that he was speeding.

“Anyone who accepts that they were the driver and they were speeding, you would think in the normal course from a moral standpoint they should be convicted. But the law of the land says ‘no actually’.”

Mr Freeman even called on ministers to tighten up speeding laws, saying Parliament “needs to change the law”.

Last night it emerged Beckham fought to avoid a speeding conviction because the number of points on his licence could have led to an automatic ban.

DAVID Beckham’s own lawyer admits he should have been convicted for speeding “from a moral standpoint”.

Celebrity solicitor Nick Freeman got the former England star acquitted on a technicality.

But Mr Freeman believes Becks really ought to have been punished for driving at almost 60mph in a 40 zone.

We have all seen the hard-hitting road safety adverts – the speed limit is there for a reason. The difference between a few miles per hour can mean the difference between life and death.

Becks admitted speeding but avoided the rap because prosecutors sent him a notice of the offence a day late.

“Mr Loophole” Freeman is the master of getting millionaires off driving offences.

But how many ordinary Brits can afford the services of high-flying legal eagles like Nick?

Everyone should be equal before the eyes of the law – Lady Justice should be blind, not just the preserve of the wealthy.

Mr Freeman himself is calling for the loophole to be closed – we couldn’t agree more, Nick.
