Blues having lot Maur fun
MARCOS ALONSO says Chelsea’s players are loving life under new boss Maurizio Sarri.
The Italian has made good on his promise to bring the joy back to Stamford Bridge, following a glum final season under fellow countryman Antonio Conte.
Belgium superstar Eden Hazard is flourishing with six goals in seven Premier League games and tops the goalscoring charts.
Last season it took him seven top-flight games to claim his first strike and 18 games to reach half a dozen goals. Spaniard Alonso, now playing as a left-back rather than wing-back for Sarri’s unbeaten west Londoners, said: “It’s a way of playing we all like and we are enjoying our football at the moment.
“With the quality we have in the team, this is a great way to play for us.
“We can have control of the ball, we can have control of the game, playing like this.
“Eden’s been brilliant. He’s playing some great football, he’s scoring goals and he’s massive for us. I hope he keeps it up.”
Alonso, who kicked a goalpost at the final whistle immediately after failing to bury a header from a corner, added: “We have other players with a lot of quality up front.
“We all have chances, we get close to the goal and we have to take them and kill the games when we are controlling it, because then the other team can get a chance.
“It’s early to talk about the title, but I know there is room for improvement.
“We have to keep training and try to give a little bit more because we are capable of beating any team and we have to show it every week.”
