Dad’s the way to celebrate, Roon
SALFORD soared to the National League summit with victory over Maidenhead.
The Ammies – part owned by Manchester United Class of 92 stars Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt – went top after goals by Scott Wiseman, Devante Rodney and Adam Rooney.
And boss Graham Alexander said after the 3-0 win: “Roon’s travelled down separately after his wife had a baby boy. He didn’t have a great sleep but got his reward.”
Despite six straight wins, Alexander insists Salford must stay level-headed, adding: “We can’t get carried away with anything.”
Leyton Orient drop to second after surrendering their unbeaten record on home soil against Sutton, with Jonah Ayunga’s second-half strike lifting the visitors up to sixth.
Orient chief Justin Edinburgh said: “They came to do a job and did it well.”
Ex-West Brom striker Marc-Antoine Fortune came off the bench to rescue a 1-1 draw for Chesterfield at Maidstone. Boss Martin Allen believes his team can win promotion.
He said: “We will be up there challenging. No doubt about it.”
Danny Rowe’s eighth goal of the season helped high-flying Fylde to a 3-0 victory over rock-bottom Braintree, while Adi Yussuf snatched Solihull a last-gasp win at lowly Havant.
And Eastleigh earned a third straight win with Josh Hare downing Gateshead late on. Manager Andy Hessenthaler said: “We had to grind it out.”
