Word’s out on killer Nilsen

SCRABBLE: Beast SERIAL killer Dennis Nilsen was a Scrabble cheat who could not bear to lose at anything, a fellow lag has claimed.

Transgender inmate Sarah Jane Baker said she spent a lot of time with him in Full Sutton jail, York, but never felt unsafe.

She said: “There was no doubt he was a narcissistic and psychopathic person who believed that his needs were more important than those of anyone else.

“Whether we were playing Scrabble or chess, he hated to lose, and I often spied him trying to find the blank Scrabble tiles.

“Yet, I never felt unsafe in his company, although I was aware of the horrific crimes that he had committed.”

The 48-year-old – who is serving an indeterminate sentence in a male prison – said: “I hope that his death will bring some peace to his victims’ families.”

Cannibal Nilsen, who killed at least 12 young men, died at Full Sutton in May, aged 72.
