Peak of stupidity

-

TWO men were rescued in a snowstorm after attempting to climb Britain’s second highest mountain in gym gear.

The clueless pair wore shorts, leggings and light tops to climb Ben Macdui in the Cairngorms.

But the men – aged 25 and 27 from Aberdeen – called for help after it got dark and the weather turned atrocious. Rescuers found they had no map, compass, torch or warm clothing.

Team leader Willie Anderson said: “These walkers were very lucky.

“The snow started within minutes of our locating them and I would have been doubtful of such a good outcome if we hadn’t found them so quickly.”
