Doctors slots go unfilled

AROUND a quarter of evening and weekend GP appointmen­ts are unfilled in England, an investigat­ion found.

The right to see a doctor out-of-hours was trialled ahead of a full seven-day service across the UK.

But Prof Helen Stokes-Lampard said: “At a time when patients are waiting longer for routine appointmen­ts, to find out so many evening and weekend appointmen­ts have been unfilled is shocking.”
