Tommy stands guard

-

A TOMMY clutching a rifle stands watch at the White Cliffs of Dover.

The 6ft statue pays tribute to brave troops who served in World War One.

The charity There But Not There has placed 11 of the aluminium-framed Tommies at the iconic spot to represent the Dover Patrol naval force.

Patrol members were awarded the Victoria Cross for their role in the 1918 Zeebrugge Raid.

The figures have also been on display at locations including the Tower of London and the Giant’s Causeway in Co Antrim.
