Body art chef’s torment A TATTOO addict who spent £28,000 covering 85% of his body with ink is sick of strangers mocking him in the street.

Chris Dalzell has amassed 250 tattoos, some over his entire skull, since the age of 16.

The chef, 33, who has worked with celebrity cook Jamie Oliver, even had his eyelids filled in, which left him blind for three days.

Blatant

Despite his unusual appearance, the dad is sick of strangers pointing him out in the street.

Chris, of Bangor, Co Down, said: “People are so blatant. I walk down the street now and they don’t even wait for me to walk past, they will just openly say ‘look at the state of his face’.

“I still feel the same as I did before I had it done. I forget I have the tattoos on my face. I’m the same person inside. I just want to be treated like a person.”

In total, Chris has spent 600 hours “under the needle” and aims to have his entire body covered by 2020. The few remaining “untouched” areas include his eyeballs, the soles of his feet and his penis – all of which he plans on getting inked.

Despite the constant looks, he has no regrets and plans to go to England to get his penis tattooed, as no-one will do it in Northern Ireland.

He said: “I didn’t think about how people would react.

“If I’d sat down and thought about it, I might have done it differently.”

As well as the look, Chris likes to feel the pain of the needle, which helped him through a difficult period when his daughter was in hospital.

He said: “I’d go into the tattoo shop and say ‘what’s the most painful place to get tattooed?’ and they’d say the face so I’d say ‘give me that’.

“It sounds silly, but I felt like I was taking a bit of pain away from her because I was inflicting it on myself.”

Chris said he would only get rid of his tattoos for his children. He said: “If they didn’t like me doing it, I would get every one removed.”
