HEREDITARY (15) (Download, DVD and Blu-ray from Monday) ARE you in the mood for one of those shamelessly trashy B-movie horrors, crammed with every laughable cliché in the book?

In that case, I strongly recommend you give Hereditary a miss, because it’ll let you down in every respect.

This horror has been crafted with meticulous attention to detail – the visuals, tone, pace, music are consistently spot-on – and built around a tremendous central performance from Toni Collette.

Her character, troubled artist Annie, is a wife and mother whose family appears to have evil woven into its DNA. The death of her loathsome mother triggers a series of unspeakably shocking events.

Horror fans will point to a number of influences such as The Exorcist and Rosemary’s Baby, but ultimately this is writer-director Ari Aster’s own uniquely chilling vision of domestic disintegration.

Originally thought to have died when the Nazi regime collapsed, Eichmann was in fact living under a fake identity in Buenos Aires with his wife and sons.
