LINEHAM’S A WARR HERO!

- Yp ALC@< J:FKK ®ÊGOLF

TOM LINEHAM grabbed a sensational try double to send the Wolves storming into the Grand Final.

Saints had finished the season 15 points ahead of Warrington and led for much of the second half.

Danny Richardson’s kicking game – including three drop goals – looked like edging this dramatic semi final. But winger Lineham came up with two priceless tries to put them 80 minutes away from winning their first ever title.

With the stakes so high it was no surprise both sides looked nervous and error prone.

They traded penalties early on through Tyrone

Roberts and Danny Richardson but try scoring chances were rare.

Drop

Tommy Makinson wasted one great Saints opening and the only other score of the half was a Richardson drop-goal.

But all the caginess of the first half was blown away by a storming restart from both sides.

Luke Douglas pounced for a Saints try after two errors by Ratchford and Richardson kicked them into a seven-point lead.

But the Wolves came snarling straight back with a cracking try from Jack Hughes.

Roberts missed the conversion but Richardson was spot-on with a Saints penalty to nudge them into an 11-6 lead.

The scent of blood was in Wolves’ noses, though, and Lineham did superbly to slide his way over.

This time Roberts added the conversion to wrestle back the lead.

Richardson missed a penalty as the pressure started to ramp up but then kicked two more drop goals to sneak back into a one-point lead.

Lineham refused to be beaten though and with six minutes left pounced for his second try.
