Marco in dive fury

-

Frenchman netted a secondhalf stunner to sink Everton.

But Silva, who saw Gylfi Sigurdsson score a late spot-kick, pointed the finger at Martial and ref Jon Moss for being conned.

He said: “It was not a penalty, clearly the player dived. It leaves a bad sensation. The referee made things easier for them.

“I know the referee can make mistakes, like I make and our players make, but in that moment it looks like my player touched the ball.”

Pogba admits he could start paying the penalty for his stuttering spot-kick run-up.

The £89m star scored at the second attempt following Jordan Pickford’s initial save.

But Pogba’s technique, that saw him take 27 steps before reaching the ball yesterday, has left fans bemused.

Pogba, who missed against Burnley earlier this season, said: “I was lucky, but the important thing is it went in and I scored the goal.

“I always try and destabilise the keeper, maybe they know how I take penalties, maybe I should practice to change it, if the keepers know my step.”

United boss Jose Mourinho backed Pogba, saying: “I like his desire to take it.

“I don’t like Mickey Mouses, fragile, afraid to go and don’t take penalties. I like the player that wants to take it.

“Maybe he has to change his approach but I don’t want him to change his mental approach.”
