Brazen armed robber drags officer from motor in hijack
AN ARMED robber who dragged a police officer from her patrol car and threw her to the ground in a vicious attack has been locked up.
Masked thug Owen Smith, 29, was on the run after ransacking an Esso garage when he attacked the vehicle as it arrived on the forecourt.

The video shows the injured constable getting up to help colleague PC Vicky Canales as back-up arrives.
Det Chief Insp Justina Beeken said: “Watching the CCTV of Smith attacking our officers is absolutely harrowing, not least due to the ferocity of the attack.
“I commend the officers’ bravery that evening.”
Staff at Tesco Express at the garage in Horsham, West Sussex, raised the alarm at 12.30am in July when two armed men burst in.
PC Young and her partner happened across the crime scene as the pair stole cash, booze and cigarettes.
The officers were calling for back-up when homeless Smith spotted their car.
He managed to get inside after dragging PC Young out but help arrived and Smith was Tasered.
He was jailed for 14 years by a judge at Hove Crown Court this week. Smith previously admitted assault by beating a police constable, possession of an offensive weapon, robbery and taking a police vehicle without consent.
