A QUICKSTEP TRIBUTE FOR WAR HEROES
STRICTLY stars join Chelsea Pensioners for a tea dance to mark the centenary of the armistice of World War One.
Husband and wife pro dancers Aljaz Skorjanec and Janette Manrara wowed veterans with a performance at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.
Celeb contestants including Graeme Swann and Kate Silverton got into the swing with the ex-servicemen and women.
And head judge Shirley Ballas twirled round the floor with one very sprightly pensioner.
The group were joined by members of the armed forces for an event to
help mark tomorrow’s historic Remembrance Sunday memorial. Major James de St John-Pryce, of the Household Cavalry Regiment said: “It was a great honour to meet the Chelsea Pensioners, particularly when they were in such high spirits with the visit of the Strictly Come Dancing cast. “Despite the festive atmosphere, the event was a reminder for all of us of the importance of Remembrance Sunday and our duty to keep the memories of sacrifice and gratitude alive.” Footage of the dance will be shown during tomorrow’s Strictly results show.
