Battle for war legacy
ONE in five Brits has no idea when World War One began.
More than a quarter could not name the Battle of the Somme as a crucial event in the conflict, while fewer than half knew the war was sparked by Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s murder.
The study was carried out by gaming firm Bandai Namco Entertainment as it launched 11-11: Memories Retold, a game exploring life on both sides.
The company’s Lee Kirton said they hoped it would “help a new audience discover more about the history and the importance of WWI”.
