BRITAIN will be battered by a weekend washout of storms and 60mph gales.
Weather warnings have been issued across the UK as monsoonlike conditions hurtle in.
South-west England, Wales and coastal areas will bear the brunt of the deluge.
Grahame Madge from the Met Office said: “Exposed and coastal regions will see the strongest winds with gusts of 60mph, while inland gusts could touch 50mph.” Forecasters earlier issued a “danger to life” warning following floods in the west.
The storms sparked power cuts, cancelled trains and delays on the roads.
Downpours were triggered by low pressure from the Atlantic and a band of rain moving in from the west. Fore- caster Alex Deakin said: “Overall the weekend is a case of dodging the downpours as there will be lots of heavy showers.”
The wild weather is set to last into next month.
Leon Brown from the Weather Channel added: “Four more named Atlantic storms are expected by early December, plus the risk of a fifth one before Christmas.”
