beautiful waterfall before launching them down a 40ft slide, ponchos are advisable as you will get wet!

We then set our sights on Kraken Unleashed with two vertical drops, the highest at 144ft, seven inversions, a dive loop and a corkscrew.

Mako is next, and just as frightening. Shark-themed, it begins with the painfully slow trip up to 200ft where we dangle over the edge before a hair-raising fall at 75mph.

We round off the day at the lively nightspot Mango’s, which boasts a cabaret lounge with singing, dancing and huge cocktails.

Last stop is the action-packed Aquatica waterpark, where we make a beeline for Ray Rush.

Groups of up to four sitting in rafts are sent careering down a flume before being pumped out onto a stingray and dropped down a hole into a pool of water.

Neighbouring Walhalla Wave, meanwhile, pushes daredevils through a maze of twists, turns and tunnels before surging back out into the bright Florida sunshine. With the park boasting some of the most extreme water rides in Orlando, the bravest thrill-seekers can take on the Taumata Racer. Lying head-first on colourful mats riders take a highspeed rip down a staggeringly steep hill. And if that isn’t intense enough, Ihu’s Breakaway Falls prompts screams of terror from the most steely of participants, who enter one of three pods controlled by the park’s ride operators.

Speeds

A racing heartbeat is heard from inside before each rider is released – dropping 40ft down from a tower into the slide at break-neck speeds.

To celebrate having conquered all of SeaWorld’s most adventurous rollercoasters and water rides, we go to have dinner at Uncle Julio’s, where traditional tacos, enchiladas and burritos are closely followed by a giant chocolate piñata.

Florida is also famous for its cut-priced shopping and Orlando’s International Premium Outlets offer up to 70% discounts on big brand names.

With my newly-purchased plush pink Karl Lagerfeld handbag, I enjoy a final stop at Vinito Ristorante, for a hearty lunch of spaghetti pomodoro and (more) wine.

Cheers!
