The grim blue line

BRITAIN’S worrying descent into lawlessness continues.

Things are so bad that hundreds of people have started taking matters into their own hands.

For so many to have no faith in the police is appalling. Even more shockingly the police often don’t see this red flag as an urgent wake-up call.

Loudmouth chief constables are quick to condemn these “community safety groups”. But when it comes to putting more bobbies on the street they’re normally silent.

A visible police presence doesn’t just deter criminals. It reassures people that the long arm of the law is in control.

There’s no doubt many brave officers across the country are dedicated to tackling crime. But they’re often fighting a losing battle.

It’s clear the Government needs to give the police more money to reverse this worrying trend.

Otherwise even more people will feel the need to take the law into their own hands.
