Scholes looks up
8 PAUL SCHOLES wants Salford to go all the way – just like Bournemouth.
Scholes admits the club he invested in along with former Manchester United team-mates Gary and Phil Neville and Ryan Giggs are targeting Premier League football as a long-term aim.
Salford are pushing hard for promotion from the National League into League Two, having rapidly climbed up the football ladder since Scholes and his fellow owners ploughed in their millions.
He hopes they can mirror the rise of the Cherries all the way to the top.
Scholes said: “I think about Bournemouth. At the start, I’d say the ambition was to get to the Football League but you’re not going to get there and be like, ‘That’s it, everything’s done, we don’t care anymore’.
“We want it to go as far as we possibly can and the model Bournemouth have looks achievable to me.”
Moneybags Salford have been accused of being the ‘Manchester City of non-League football’ but Gary Neville welcomes the flak. “I always take criticism as a compliment,” he said.
