Half-price offers before Xmas

HIGH Street shops are slashing prices by 50% before Christmas to survive into 2019.

They are trying to lure shoppers away from online retailers ahead of the key festive spending season.

A Daily Star probe found even retailers on Britain’s most prestigiou­s street are already cutting the cost of goods.

Savvy consumers can save hundreds of pounds on TVs, clothes, children’s toys and other goods on London’s Oxford Street.

Shop windows were plastered

SALES: Stores offer discounts in sale signs ahead of next week’s Black Friday bonanza.

Women’s clothes shop Evans, suit store Moss Bros and HMV are all offering up to 50% off, along with JD Sports.

The flagship Topshop and

Disney stores both have up to 30% off, while shoe shop Office and fashion chain Gap are cutting prices by 40%.

Department store giants are also trimming their prices, with Debenhams selling perfume and aftershave at half price.

House of Fraser has 50% off items including bedding, while John Lewis is flogging TVs and iPads with huge discounts.

Lukasz Stompor, 29, who works in Aldo shoe shop which is offering 50% off, said: “Because of online, no-one wants to move.

“It’s so easy – they send it to your house. It’s easier to be on your phone. Slowly all the retailers will die off.”
