MARK Ronson’s new single with Miley Cyrus turned out to be a spooky premonition of the wildfires in California.
The duo are set to release the incredible Nothing Breaks Like A Heart on Friday, containing lyrics about a “burning house”.
It was written just weeks before Miley lost her home to the fires which raged across the Californian coast.
Mark explained: “We recorded at Shangri-La, Rick Rubin’s magical studio in Malibu where all the fires just happened and Miley happened to lose her house. She reminded me that the first few lyrics of the song are this line about: ‘this burning house there’s nothing left it’s smoking’.”
Miley is dating movie star Liam Hemsworth and he turned out to be a hero during the fires.
Mark said: “Her boyfriend carried like two 200lb pigs to safety and eight dogs, that’s the nice side of the story.”
With hints of Dolly Parton and Stevie Nicks, Nothing Breaks Like A Heart is the first single from Mark’s next album which contains “sad
bangers”. He chased Miley for ages but she wasn’t replying to his texts: “I saw Miley on Saturday Night Live’s 40th anniversary a couple of years ago sing 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover.
“It was really emotive and I was completely obsessed.
“I would text her three times and she would eventually get back to me three weeks later.”
It’s Mark’s most personal music yet: “I was going through some s**t in my personal life and the (marriage) separation.
“They are songs with heavy emotionality.” MARK is not part of the late Winehouse’s hologram concerts.
Mark, who produced his friend’s classic Back To Black album, told me: “The first I heard about it was recently.
“I don’t know anything about it, it’s the family’s decision. I’m only a peripheral player, but nobody has asked for music or anything.”
