Mighty Mo can outgun Neymar

KLOPP BACKS ACE SALAH

MO SALAH is ready to put Paris St-Germain’s muchvaunted attack in the shade tonight.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is backing the Egyptian star to come out on top after returning to the world class levels of last season.

Liverpool’s front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Salah – hailed the best in the world by PSG keeper Gianluigi Buffon – face off against superstars Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani.

Yet Klopp believes it’s Salah, who has overcome niggling injury problems, who who tops that list.

He said: “The body is back, 100 per cent, his physical things he can rely on. Of all the teams, we had the longest season two weeks longer than the rest.

“After that they all went to a very long World Cup. Egypt went out a little earlier but Mo played 94 or 95 per cent fit because of the shoulder injury.

“It was not that it hurt, but being healthy does not mean you are 100 per cent.

“Then the pre-season starts again and he always tried everything. The only thing was his body needed time to adapt.

“Still a world-class player, still a threat in a game, but in the scoring situations not the same calmness, coolness.”

Salah has turned it around in recent weeks. After three goals in his first 11 games this season, he has scored six in his last seven.

Six of his seven Premier League goals have come when the score was goalless which shows he is a game changer.

Klopp added: “Since before the last international break it was completely obvious in each session it clicked again. He’s there.

“There is nothing to discuss, nothing to say, it was not try more, do more. He was doing everything he can. “If you are in doubt, easily then it could affect you, but not for one second was he is doubt and I was not in doubt.

“Nobody here was in doubt actually. It is all good. Even Mo Salah is a human being and he needed time. Everything is fine.”

Liverpool will need last season’s 46goal striker in Paris where a point will ensure they have their destiny in their own hands for the final group game against Napoli.

Klopp believes the patience shown with Salah will pay dividends.

“For the first time in his life it was clear that after scoring more than 40 goals, how do we deal with that?” the German added.

“Will he score 40 goals again? Is it even important to score 40 goals again? Of course not.”
