Murray’s got faith in Florin

- By NEIL McLEMAN

GLENN MURRAY has backed Florin Andone to fill his goalscoring boots at Brighton.

The former Crystal Palace striker scored his eighth goal of the season against his old club on Tuesday before going off with a shoulder injury.

Romanian Andone then came on to score his second goal in two games in Brighton’s 3-1 win.

“He has been very good,” said Murray, who expects to discover how serious his injury is today.

“He was given his opportunity at Huddersfield and he took that and was good for us against Palace. It was some goal.”

Andone, a £5.5m summer signing from Deportivo La Coruna, scored on his first start at Huddersfield after struggling with injury.

Vital

He said: “It was hard for me at the start – I didn’t play for four months but for me it’s about the future.

“I’ve been delighted with the start I’ve made to my career at this club. To me every minute is so vital.

“I know I have to take my chance when I can because of the fantastic form Glenn has been in.”

Brighton won despite being down to 10 men after half an hour, when Shane Duffy was sent off for a headbutt with his side 1-0 ahead.

Palace midfielder James McArthur branded their display unacceptable.

The Scotland midfielder said: “It was not good enough, especially in the first half. To give them three goals is not acceptable.

“Obviously the manager was not happy. Everyone knows it is not acceptable, performance or result-wise.

“Even in the second half when we were pushing, we did not put their goalkeeper under enough pressure when they have got 10 men.

“A poor performance all round and not acceptable. Now we need to get going and make it right by winning at West Ham.”
