A NEW rule al­low­ing foot­ball teams to bring on ex­tra play­ers if they’re los­ing have been slammed as “ridicu­lous”.

The FA “Power Play” rule kicks in when sides are trail­ing by four goals. At that point they can bring on an ex­tra player – and can add more if the drub­bing con­tin­ues. The aim is to keep up the morale of young­sters.
