TEARS OF BACKPACK GIRL’S DAD
Appeal over missing Grace
A MILLIONAIRE British dad wept as he appealed for information about his missing backpacker daughter.
Police have “grave fears” over Grace Millane, 22, who was last seen with a man at a hotel in Auckland, New Zealand, on December 1.
Property developer David Millane, 60, flew into the country for a press conference yesterday and pleaded for witnesses to come forward.
He said: “Grace is a lovely, outgoing, funloving, family-orientated daughter. She’s usually in daily contact with either her mother, myself, her two brothers or members of the family on social media.”
He added: “We are all extremely upset and it’s very difficult at this time to fully describe the range of emotions we are going through.”
The University of Lincoln graduate, from Wickford, Essex, travelled to the country alone after a six-week group trip around South PLEA: Dad David America. She was scheduled to leave her hostel today before travelling on to Australia.
Det Insp Scott Beard, of Auckland Police, said officers had spoken to the man last seen with Grace and were viewing hours of CCTV footage. He said there was so far no evidence of foul play but added: “It has now been six days since Grace was last seen. At this point, we hold grave fears for her safety.”
