KNIFE-proof gloves are being sold as ideal Christmas presents for police.

The anti-slash gloves – complete with the word “Police” on the cuff – cost £42. But the Metropolitan Police have slammed the clothing as “a crass stunt”.

Ken Marsh, the chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation, said: “It is not up to individual companies to provide my colleagues with protective gear.”
