BEAR’S CALL TO MUSLIMS

- By JERRY LAWTON

TV survivalist Bear Grylls thinks the Scouts can wipe out Islamic State as mosques clamour to start up groups.

The ex-SAS soldier believes the organisation should lead the fight against extremism by recruiting young Muslims.

Bear, 44, made the claims as he became new chief ambassador for Scouting globally. He became the UK’s youngest ever chief scout in 2009.

Numbers have swelled to an all-time high – up 43% – under his leadership.

The reality TV host said:

“We have hundreds of mosques every week reaching out asking: ‘Can we start up groups?’

“MI5 is spending resources to stem the blood but we’re saying: ‘Don’t create the wound.’’’

He said many mosques think the Scouts can instil British values.

The adventurer said that if society did not give young Muslims “something good they go to the bad”. SCOUTS ROLE: Grylls ONE in 10 Brits would prefer to swim with sharks than spend time with the in-laws at Christmas.

And people also hide in the toilet to get some “me time” while they have the family over for the festive period, said a study for Google Home Hub.
