BBC chiefs have been caught in a sexism storm as the biggest “female” Christmas comedy star is Mrs Brown – played by a bloke.
Critics have blasted the Beeb’s festive schedule, in which all the seasonal sitcoms are written by men.
Gail Renard, from the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain, said if it was not for Mrs Brown’s Boys “women would hardly be on BBC comedy this Christmas”.
