Rawat, 49, who claims to coach youth football teams and promote peace in the community, has been banned from the jail.

Inmates are now being given only photocopies of their mail. Rawat was arrested at the gates of Belmarsh after a police sting.

The preacher was originally born in the Midlands, but has since moved to north London.

Police have confirmed they arrested a man on November 29 on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. A spokesman for the Prison Service said: “Drugs fuel instability and violence behind bars and we are determined to do everything possible to stop them from entering our prisons.”
