Rawat, 49, who claims to coach youth football teams and promote peace in the community, has been banned from the jail.

Inmates are now being given only photocopie­s of their mail. Rawat was arrested at the gates of Belmarsh after a police sting.

The preacher was originally born in the Midlands, but has since moved to north London.

Police have confirmed they arrested a man on November 29 on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. A spokesman for the Prison Service said: “Drugs fuel instabilit­y and violence behind bars and we are determined to do everything possible to stop them from entering our prisons.”
