LIFE with my new girl is boring and dull. We’re not even having great sex any more.

When she and I met last July she was slim, tanned and blonde. We met on the nearby beach – she was working in a café and I was handing out the deckchairs.

We had eight fantastic weeks of boozy barbecues, midnight swims and romantic walks. The sun was shining and it all felt like an amazing dream.

But now she’s living here in my flat and I’m bored and disappointed.

She’s stopped dyeing her hair, has put on weight and works long hours as a nanny.

Even when we do see each other she’s knackered and grumpy. JANE SAYS: Winter sets in and real life returns to normal.

It’s unrealistic of you to expect day-to-day life to be as warm or as magical as those fun days on the beach or those hot nights under the stars.

Your girlfriend has a job to do and a living to earn, because those bills won’t pay themselves.

If she’s stressed and under pressure looking after her charges all day, perhaps she’d benefit from a lot more love and understanding from you?

Talk to her today and ask her how she’s coping.

Is she comfort eating because she’s unhappy?

When the warmer weather comes you can start getting out and about a bit more and also plan your next trip somewhere hot.

In the meantime, make the effort to ensure that she still feels cherished and loved every day.

Remember that all relationships go through ups and downs – and it’s surviving the tough times that makes us stronger.
