Lingfield – BALLYHEIGUE BAY was held back by some uncharacteristically sketchy jumping when returned to fences at the end of last season after winning a couple of handicap hurdles at Plumpton and Ascot. Usually flies his fences and in this small field should not be put under too much pressure for his seasonal return.

Wolverhampton – MOSSY’S LODGE (nap) can get punters off to a flying start in the opener on this matinee card today. Rebecca Menzies’ five-year-old mare has been in great form on the all-weather of late with form figures of 2-5-2-1-3 on her last five outings on artificial surfaces. She went very close at Lingfield last Tuesday, going under by only a neck to Mr Mac, and can go one better here under 5lb claimer Paula Muir to register her first win at the Midlands track.

Magical Molly Moe finished well when scoring over 7f here last time – when wearing a hood for the first time – and today’s trip of one mile and one-and-a-half furlongs is well within her compass. Trainer David Barron has an excellent record at this track.

Wolverhampton – SHE’S GOT YOU (nb) will have come on a bundle for her introductory run at Kempton last month, where she finished a four-length fourth behind the well-supported Inhale. John Gosden’s filly was easy to back that day – drifting from 5-2 to 4-1 – but is expected to start a short-priced favourite for the first division of the novice stakes. Roger Varian’s Geneva Spur, also having his first racecourse experience in that Kempton race, was just over three lengths behind the selection in sixth and will also improve for the outing.

– BEEHAAR (treble), a stablemate of She’s Got You, should complete a quickfire double for Gosden in the novice stakes’ second division. She is beautifully bred, being a half-sister to four winners, including star performers Without Parole and Tamarkuz.
