HER DAUGHTER WON’T WATCH

My family can't watch prison hell

CORRIE star Sally Dynevor says her teen girl cannot watch the soap while mum is behind bars.

The actress’s character Sally Metcalfe has been jailed for fraud after being framed.

And Sally revealed 15-yearold Hattie finds the prison scenes “too upsetting” even though they are not real. Fans are already outraged at her screen plight.

The mum of three told OK! magazine: “Hattie can’t watch me because it’s too upsetting seeing me in prison.

“She said she won’t watch it again until the story’s finished.” The actress said she had been overwhelmed by the support she has received over her character’s ordeal – including the Daily Star’s Save Our Sally campaign.

She said: “I’ve had so many people coming up to me saying: ‘I’m so sad about Sally. I cried when she was sentenced. I hope she’s not in there for Christmas.’

“It’s been very touching. I’ve been overwhelmed. “We have a Corrie girls WhatsApp group and one of them sent me a story about a man who has had ROLE: In jail. Left, with Hattie Save Our Sally tattooed on his leg. I was thinking of his poor wife. It’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen.

“It’s very nice though. Thank you to the man who did it.”

Sadly for Sally, her character will spend Christmas in jail though she is set to be freed in January when husband Tim – played by Joe Duttine – turns detective to clear her.

Sally’s screen hubby shares the name of her real one of 23 years – and it is not the only time fiction and fact have blurred for her.

In 2009 she was diagnosed with breast cancer as her character battled the disease.

She took a six-month break for treatment.

Sally said: “If it wasn’t for Coronation Street I never would have gone to the doctors. We always say life mirrors art on Corrie. It was really strange.”
