Rivals up for Oscar
THE winner between Carl Frampton and Josh Warrington could land a unification shot at WBO champion Oscar Valdez.
Two-weight champion Frampton and Warrington tussle it out for the Leeds man’s IBF featherweight title a week on Saturday at Manchester Arena.
But Frank Warren, who promotes the pair, is already lining up Valdez and has spoken to Top Rank chief Bob Arum about his man.
He said: “Bob called me and he wants to make the Valdez fight.
“Valdez is fighting in January. He’s coming back after breaking his jaw and he’s very keen to fight the winner.
“I would want it in the UK but they don’t care where they fight.”
The Manchester fight on December 22 will clash with Dillian Whyte’s heavyweight duel against Dereck Chisora in London.
Both shows are on pay-per-view, which has angered promoter Warren, who scheduled his fight date before rival Eddie Hearn.
Warren joked he could stage the rematch between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder on April 13 when Anthony Joshua fights next in retaliation.
He added: “I hope we can avoid future clashes. It’s disrespectful to the fans. If you had any feeling about the sport, you wouldn’t do this. It’s senseless.” Warrington fights Frampton exclusively live on BT Sport
