Zog is a blundering, accident-prone dragon who is rubbish at most things but desperate to be a winner.
And Boris’ critics might claim that just about sums him up too.
The book – written by Julia McDonald and illustrated by Axel Scheffler – has been adapted into an animated caper for the family on Christmas Day.
It isn’t the first time the star of their books has been compared to a reallife political figure.
Last year’s effort was The Highway Rat, a greedy and evil rodent who terrorised people and stole their goodies.
Writer Julia said he was just like US president Donald Trump. Ex London Mayor Boris once told his supporters at a conference that he wanted more investment in building homes in the capital.
He said: “There is space to build 400,000 more homes in London. “We want Brits to buy them, not oligarchs from the Planet Zog – even though I am very far from Zog-ist and most of my ancestors come from Zog and I am generally in favour of foreign investment.” Just like Zog The Dragon, Boris is desperate to be tops
– BoJo is keen to take over from Prime Minister Theresa May.
And he’s often blundered his way through his career such as likening the European Union toThe Third Reich, being left dangling on a zipwire trying to promote the 2012 Olympics and knocking a
10-year-old boy to the ground in what was meant to be a playful street rugby game in Japan. Judge for yourself when Boris... err... Zog... comes in to land on our TV screens on Christmas Day at
4.50pm on BBC One. MAMMA Mia star Hugh Skinner voices Zog. He says the dragon’s catchphrase “What a good idea” five times in the show.
