PC MADNESS 2
How do you make a snowflake laugh?
DAILY Star reporter ANTONY THROWER met a top comic to see if it is possible to make people laugh using snowflakes’ “zero-tolerance” rules for upsetting anybody.
Edinburgh Fringe veteran Andrew Doyle says: “Something has changed in the last 10 years.
“In the 90s we had political correctness but we’ve gone beyond that. The biggest threat we face is censorship – I wouldn’t perform in those situations.”
Luckily he’s a professional and has a number of “safe jokes” up his sleeve.
“What do you call someone with a shovel on his head? The Samaritans because he may be in need of help to deal with some underlying mental issues.”
“My mother-in-law is so fat because she’s a big believer in body positivity. I’m completely in awe of her kick-ass attitude.”
“Why did the chicken cross the road? Because Peta has made it illegal to battery farm them – and rightly so.”
“What goes black white black white black white? A multicultural and diverse employment initiative.”
The gags certainly wouldn’t go down a storm at the Backyard Comedy Club, which offers uncensored stand-up every second Tuesday.
Andrew adds: “People come to shows to be shocked. It would be safe to perform in front of your mum but nobody would want to pay to watch it.”
