TWO brave RSPCA animal welfare officers raced into icy waters to help a flock of drowning sheep.
Kate Wright and Pete Warne plunged into the River Colne near Watford for the rescue.

They were helped in the three-and-a-half hour operation by workers from Highways England and Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Kate said: “I’m so pleased we were able to save nine lives.

“Some of the sheep made fairly quick recoveries, but some were very weak so we kept them wrapped in blankets.”
