Mrs Brown: My boys to be the new Eric & Ernie

DUO CAN BECOME LEGENDS

MRS Brown’s Boys stars Danny O’Carroll and Paddy Houlihan are tipped to become the new Morecambe and Wise.

The TV duo are making a spinoff movie featuring their loveable characters Buster and Dermot.

And Mrs Brown creator Brendan O’Carroll has tipped the duo, who are close pals in real life, for big things.

He says they could become the new “Eric and Ernie” because they have exactly the same chemistry.

Brendan explained: “They are writing a movie about Dermot and Buster as a bit of a spin-off. I think it’s going to be really, really successful.

“What is going to make it successful is that chemistry they have with each other.

“There is something that they have that is very, very rare. You saw it in Morecambe and Wise.”

Fans will see the whole clan back together in the BBC One Christmas Day special called Exotic Mammy.

In the episode, Agnes is given an Irish version of Alexa called a “Maggie” (pronounced M’Gee).

Brendan said it was based on a naughty Irish pun which the BBC had not spotted.

He said: “I called it a Maggie because in Ireland it’s a derogatory term for a lady’s part. It’s a Gee. So I called it a Mag-gie.

“So when it’s going out on TV in the UK people will be going: ‘Oh, it’s called Maggie’ but in Ireland when Mrs Brown says: ‘Hold on. Let me ask Maggie’, the Irish will be laughing.”
