Box clever at the shops

-

FORGET Black Friday and January offers - if you want to bag the best bargains, hit the Boxing Day sales.

While everyone else is still in a turkey-induced slump, you could be snapping up some top offers as stores try to shift Christmas stock.

Think what you really need, what you don’t have but would like, and what you really don’t need any more of.

That will stop impulse buys and help you stick to the essentials. Remember - if you buy something you don’t really need or like, or something that doesn’t even fit you, it’s not a bargain.

If there’s something you’re really after, make sure you know much it normally costs outside of the sale so you can work out whether you are actually getting a good deal.

Avoid any trend-led items that will be completely out of fashion a couple of months later. Stick to classic styles that will work well in the future.

If you are heading to the shops rather than buying online, think carefully about what to wear. A big bag will slow you down, while undoing laces will be annoying in the changing room. Opt for a loose dress, slip-on shoes and a cross-body bag for maximum ease.

Make friends with the shop assistants. They will be able to point you in the direction of the best bargains and help you find your size.

Finally, make sure you know the policy for exchange and returns so you know where you stand if you change your mind.
