Derek ready to turn the tables

- By MARTIN DOMIN

DEREK CHISORA vowed to exact revenge on Dillian Whyte at the O2 Arena tomorrow night – but stopped short of throwing furniture at his rival.

Whyte edged out Chisora two years ago with a split-decision victory following 12 brutal rounds.

It was almost the fight that never was when Chisora launched a table at his fellow Londoner during a press conference.

Both men were reprimanded – and there was no repeat 24 months on.

Chisora said: “I think they screwed the tables down this time. The last build-up made (promoter) Eddie Hearn loads of money, so I’m not going to do that again.

“If you remember last year, in November, people said I was done and there was no coming back, but I rebuilt and I came back.

“I’m a better person, training has gone well and now I’m ready to go to war and have a great fight.

“Dillian is going to come and run but eventually he will meet me in the middle and that’s great for me – I’m going to seek and destroy. You just have to bite the gum shield and go.”

Whyte has beaten Lucas Browne and Joseph Parker since he outpointed Chisora and another victory could secure him a shot at world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in April.

He said: “There are levels to this thing and I keep improving. Derek will see how strong I am.

“This is boxing, I’m used to people trying to get in my head but I don’t think Derek himself knows what he’s doing. We’ll see on the night.”
