Drug baron jailed for 22yrs
BRITAIN’S biggest drug dealer is set to keep his huge fortune despite being jailed for 22 years over a record cocaine smuggling plot.
Robert Dawes, 46, went from a council estate to palatial villas in Spain and Dubai while heading one of the largest drugs empires in Europe.
Nicknamed “The One” and “The Teflon Don”, he escaped justice for decades and built a network which involved the infamous Colombian Cali and Medellin cartels.
Dawes was yesterday convicted by a French court of trafficking 1.3tonnes of cocaine worth £216million on an Air France flight from Venezuela to Paris in 2013.

The married grandfather, who is suspected of ordering at least two murders, grew up in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Notts.
He fled to Spain in 2001 fearing arrest, and was finally captured in a dawn raid at his luxury villa in the resort of Benalmadena on the Costa del Sol in 2015.
