Becks’ dipping lolly
BRAND PROFITS FALL
DAVID Beckham’s company has seen profits tumble by more than a quarter.
But the directors, including the ex-football star and wife Victoria, awarded themselves bonuses of almost
£20million.
Beckham Brand Holdings covers both the former England captain’s businesses as well as Victoria’s fashion outfit.
Profits for the company were £16m in
2016. In 2017 this plunged to £11.7m, while the directors were given bonuses worth
£18.75m.
Posh and Becks both sit as directors alongside businessman Robert Dobbs.
The massive payout is a big step up from the trio’s takings in 2016, which was £10m.
A report on Beckham Brand Holdings said: “The principal activities of the group continued to be the operating of the Victoria Beckham global lifestyle fashion brand and the licensing and other forms of commercialisation of the David Beckham brand.
“The group is committed to continuing to invest for long-term growth in both brands.”
Meanwhile fans of the Beckhams thought the family was about to appear in The Simpsons. An image surfaced online of them sketched in the yellow-skinned style of the cartoon show.
But David, Victoria, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper were only drawn by fan Stefano Monda on Instagram.
Producers of the show snubbed the Beckhams eight years ago by telling them they were not famous enough for a US audience.
A spokesman for David Beckham last night said his global business portfolio “continues to see growth”. FOOTIE STAR: In action
