A real Teem player

- By JOHN RICHARDSON

THERE’S no chance of Norwich striker Teemu Pukki picking up a fine for being late.

The Finn’s last-gasp goals are keeping the Canaries on a flight path to the Premier League.

Already this season a

97th-minute goal edged Norwich to a 4-3 win over Millwall, a 93rd-minute strike helped beat Bolton

3-2 and an 84th-minute goal sealed a 3-1 success against Rotherham.

With just four minutes of normal time to go at Ewood Park up stepped Pukki (above) to lash Onel Hernandez’s pass into the net from close range.

That makes it 13 goals in his debut Championship season following a free transfer from Brondby.

Skipper Alex Tettey, who made his 200th Norwich appearance, said of the hitman’s late goals: “It is a crazy statistic. He is quite a player.

“It is unbelievable what he is doing for himself and the team.

Felt

“He is happy he has found Norwich and has adapted really well.

“He is surprised how well we play and how good the Championship is.”

Canaries boss Daniel Farke felt Blackburn were over-physical at times and Tettey said: “It was good that we were able to dig in and work hard.

“We knew we had the right qualities and just needed to fight. We managed to do that and get a goal at the end.

“I am pretty much the only guy at Norwich who has been through everything. Managers have come and gone but you just have to go again and look forward.”

That’s the case for Rovers and their boss Tony Mowbray, especially when it’s Leeds up next on Boxing Day at Elland Road.

“It’s no different than going to Stoke City or to wherever else we’ve been this season,” he said.

“The next challenge is that we’re playing another team around the top of the league.

“We should embrace these challenges, not fear them.”
