It’s better late than Yedder!
SEVILLA missed a chance to close the gap at the top of La Liga after being held by Leganes 1-1 yesterday.
But it could have been worse after Wissam Ben Yeder rescued a last-gasp point for the 10-man visitors.
After Mikel Vesga’s early opener for Leganes and Franco Vazquez’s red card on the stroke of half-time, Sevilla looked down and out before Ben Yeder’s 90th-minute effort.
Sevilla are now five points behind leaders Barcelona, who won 2-0 against Celta Vigo. Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi netting on Saturday.
Atletico Madrid, who are three points off the summit, beat Espanyol 1-0.
Real Madrid are further back in the table but they at least had the consolation of winning silverware.
Real won the Club World Cup for a third consecutive year, and record fourth time, after beating Abu Dhabi side Al Ain 4-1 in the final.
In France, Kylian Mbappe sent Paris St-Germain 13 points clear at the top of Ligue 1 with the winner against Nantes.
At the other end of the table, Thierry Henry’s Monaco continue to struggle after their relegation concerns increased. Monaco lost 2-0 at home to Guingamp, the only team below them in the table.
Mario Mandzukic’s strike against Roma means Juventus are eight points clear at the top of Serie A.
