WHAT’S HOT TO WATCH TODAY
SO, are we all set? Bought all the prezzies? Got enough grub? Fetched in enough booze? If not, you’re leaving it kind of late.
And where’s the fun in a lastditch Christmas Eve panic?
Well, unless it’s someone else’s, of course. That’s got loads of comedy value.
Proving the point, CLICK AND COLLECT (9pm, BBC1) is a one-off sitcom, starring Stephen Merchant and Asim Chaudhry, about a dad trying to get his hands on this year’s must-have unicorn toy, desperate not to disappoint his six-year-old daughter. Asim plays the irritating neighbour who looks as if, with just hours to spare, he’s managed to track one down for him – the problem being the lengths they must now go to fetch it.
There’s Christmas Eve comedy on ITV as well, with a festive episode of Jack Dee’s rural sitcom. BAD MOVE: FESTIVE CHEER (8.30pm) finds his grumpy character Steve agreeing with wife Nicky (Kerry Godliman) to give Christmas a miss for once. If only it were that simple.
Tonight’s other highlights include the whopping great twohour GOGGLEBOX 2018 (9pm, Channel 4), cramming together a year’s worth of stuff from the regular show. Strictly, Bodyguard and Harry and Meghan’s wedding are among the things the pundits share their thoughts on.
There’s also a good ghost story on BBC Four, THE DEAD ROOM
(10pm), written by Mark Gatiss, with Simon Callow as a radio presenter with a dark secret. And THE QUEEN AND I
(6pm, Sky One), adapted from the book by Sue Townsend, finds Her Majesty (Samantha Bond) forced to relocate her family to an ordinary suburban street.
